The Challenge
Field-service engineers supporting installed industrial machinery recorded equipment faults through maintenance forms, field reports and ticket descriptions. A similar machine fault could appear at different customer sites under different wording, leaving each service team to investigate its own case without knowing that the issue had already been reported elsewhere.
That fragmentation made it harder for technical specialists to identify recurring patterns and share meaningful feedback with product and quality teams. The organisation needed a way to connect service history without requiring engineers to manually compare every record.
The Solution
With cognipeer Studio, our team brought together the organisation’s service notes, maintenance forms and fault records in an AI-assisted analysis workflow. The solution compared descriptions, grouped related symptoms and highlighted recurring issues by equipment type, location or other relevant context.
Instead of presenting a long list of individual tickets, the workflow prepared an evidence-led view of possible fault patterns. It also organised the supporting records for engineering review and helped route significant findings towards technical, product or quality stakeholders. Potential root causes were treated as leads for investigation, not as confirmed diagnoses.
Implementation
- Brought field records into scope. We identified the service histories, maintenance notes and fault descriptions available for analysis.
- Normalised different descriptions. The AI workflow compared records that referred to similar symptoms using different terminology.
- Grouped recurring patterns. We configured summaries around equipment, location and repetition so specialists could see issues across cases.
- Established technical review. Findings were prepared for the teams responsible for validation, escalation and corrective action.
Business Impact
Service and engineering teams gained a stronger connection between individual field incidents and the broader equipment picture. Technical investigations could begin with related evidence already organised, creating a more useful feedback loop between after-sales service and product quality.
- Clearer visibility of repeated failures across service locations.
- Less manual comparison of fault reports for technical teams.
- More informed root-cause investigations with linked supporting records.
- Stronger feedback to product and quality teams on recurring issues.
